What is User-Centered Design?

There are different methods and tools are used to understand the user requirements. If we are creating any design, then we need to understand the need and behavior of the user.

1. Specify Context of Use - Who are the users you will decide in this phase. It can be male or female or young or old age group. How the user will use this design? 
 
In the context of use, you collect and gather the information of your users, about their tasks. You have to explore, that how much cognitive load is involved in using the product.
How easily users will use it, what would be the right place for this product, and who will go to use this product.

2) Specify Business Requirements As Well As User Requirements

There could be business requirements or user requirements. The team should be multidisciplinary. There should be a designer, developer, business analyst, project manager, and other stakeholders, who will be involved to accomplish this.
 
Business Requirements: Business requirements refer to what a project is for and how it will address the goals of the performing organization. This includes the expected revenue, stakeholders, and overall

User Requirements: This defines the understanding of your users. What problems you are solving for your users.
 

3) Produce Design Solutions

Create wireframes, and prototypes early in the design to understand the navigation. The design solutions will cover the following steps -

3. Information Architecture
4. Wireframes
5. Mockups

4) Evaluate The Designs

If the requirement is not fulfilled then we again start with the process. We take the feedback and we need to improve the design on each and every cycle. This life cycle will go on unless you are fulfilled with the requirement. Some questions that we may ask -

1. How we can improve our process
2. How we can resolve the pain points of the user
3. If the user struggles or get stuck between the navigation
4. How we can validate our future designs

5) Iteration

After running all the above four processes, if the user still struggles then you need to iterate your designs based on the user feedback.

6) Clear Information 

Use of spacing and alignment, and font sizes, should be utilized properly. Make the content readable so that users can easily perform any actions and understand the information.

If you are designing any software or application, it should be easy to use. It should meet the business requirement.

Provide Useful Feedback
The user should be provided feedback for the action he is performing. A bad example is a pop-up window where the user is shown an error code instead of sowing some message to the user.

A Music App with great features and is easy to understand. I'll always cite Spotify when someone says "human-centered design." Spotify transformed the music business and altered how we listen to and consume music. Without even recognizing it, everyone required it for years.

Spotify now has lyrics and is still the leader in terms of creating custom playlists, recommending podcasts, and having an elegant yet easy user interface. Spotify was successful by understanding its users' struggle to pay for music from many sources and coming up with a workable solution

Conclusion: The amount of time the developers spent on the project is useless. Most of the time they do the rework and still do not get an accurate result. The cost increases as the rework increases leading the client to think, about what went wrong.

One of the reasons is bad user experience, where the project does not undergo any user research and usability testing. There should be direct engagement with the user. The context of use how the system. During every phase of the design process, user-centered designers consider the user's viewpoint.
